Google Pixel 4a review: Get ready for a surprise.

If you have always wanted the better camera program but prefer a smaller and compact sized Android smartphone, then the Pixel 4a is the best option.

For many years, Google repeated the mistake of selling its Pixel-branded smartphones at a higher price point than what the product controlled.

The very best way to tackle the issue was to earn a smartphone which cost less but nevertheless provided the great camera experience and strong performance the show was famous for.

I'm glad Google chose to make the Pixel 4a, a phone that focuses on the characteristics that matter to me personally as a smartphone user such as the compact size, long-lasting battery and a great camera. But the real story here is the price.

The Pixel 4a has an extremely competitive price of Rs 29,999, which makes it the cheapest Pixel phone ever in India. I used the Pixel 4a for every week, and this is my take on Google's latest mid-range phone.

In a time when mobiles are getting bigger in proportion, I am thankful that Google launched a telephone in the marketplace that's an ideal match for my handson.

Being a sucker for compact phones, the Pixel 4a's 5.8-inch screen is neither too big nor too little. In fact, the phone feels great in the hand and easy to utilize jelqing. I actually prefer the magnitude of the Pixel 4a within the OnePlus Nord, which I feel is a way too big.

The rear of the phone informs you of the flagship Pixel 4 which never made it into the Indian sector. You will find a square-shaped camera module at the upper left corner using one lens, alongside the fingerprint sensor that incidentally is fast in replicating the phone. Let me tell you that the Pixel 4a has a polycarbonate build. It feels sturdy, however.

But I am glad that Google has not removed the 3.5mm headphone jack from the Pixel 4a. I'm also pleased to see stereo speakers, which are hard to locate on mid-range telephones. They get loud, but the sound quality could have been improved.

Google Pixel 4a review: What is Great?

The Pixel 4a includes a 5.8-inch OLED screen. It's great to see that Google hasn't used an LCD display on the Pixel 4a to maintain the price of the telephone down. The OLED screen is bright and offers powerful contrast and vibrant colours.

The 2,340 x 1,080 pixels screen runs at 443ppi, and it is quite eloquent. I liked watching Amazon Prime Video and browsed photographs, and the viewing angles are wide enough to share your screen with a different individual sitting beside you.

The bezels on the Pixel 4a's display are slim enough, though you'll discover a hole cut out of the panel which houses the selfie camera an 8MP sensor. The Pixel 4a's screen doesn't feature a 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate and that's fine.

On the flip side, the Pixel 4a's screen is HDR (High Dynamic Range) certified which will make a massive difference when viewing Netflix shows and movies.

The specs of this Pixel 4a really are a mixed bag. The telephone is powered by a Snapdragon 730G -- which is Qualcomm's midsize chip coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB RAM.

There's no microSD card slot for memory expansion, but you get 100GB of free Google One storage for three months.

I can't comment on the long-term use of the Pixel 4a, but I did not face any difficulties with functionality while using the phone within the past week.

Programs loaded fast and scrolling through menus felt receptive. I played with Need for Speed No Limits for hours, and never discovered the phone fighting to run the game.

Because of its battery life, the Pixel 4a is powered with a 3,140mAh battery, which lasted a day on a single charge. I think that the Pixel 4a's battery life is on par with many smartphones which have a bigger battery.

The Pixel 4a ships with an 18W fast charger which requires about 80 odd minutes to fully control the phone from zero to 100 per cent.

It is undeniable that Pixel phones would be the best when it comes to software implementation and the Pixel 4a is not any different. The phone ships with Android 11, which means that you receive a stock Android experience and a couple of unique features that only Pixel owners get.

And, of course, users can expect a minimum of 3 years of operating system and security updates for the Pixel mobiles. After all, the Pixel 4a is made by Google and the company owns the working system Android.

Though Android 11 has a number of intriguing attributes, my personal favorite is the Pixel's Recorder program. If you're a journalist or a writer, the Pixel's Recorder app is nothing less than magical. Not only it records conversations, but transcribes those too. Additionally, I enjoyed the Live Caption attribute that transcribes videos in real time.

If there is 1 reason to buy the Pixel 4a, it has to be the camera. Even though it uses one 12.2MP primary sensor, the Pixel 4a still managed to conquer smartphones which are more expensive than that mid-ranger. The trick here isn't the hardware or the quality of the camera detector -- however Google's applications.

There is a single 12.2MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, optical and electronic image stabilisation on the trunk. The Pixel 4a uses the exact same Sony IMX363 sensor that Google used when it launched the Pixel 3 in 2018. Then there is also a single 8MP sensor on front.

The Pixel 4a's only shooter is fantastic. In reality, the good thing about the primary 12.2MP sensor is that it requires great shots in all conditions.

The Pixel 4a takes high-quality shots with an wonderful quantity of detail. So, the sky appears blue, leaves of trees appear green, and coffee beans look dark brown in colour.

The point I am attempting to make is the Pixel 4a does a fantastic job in capturing fine details like the shadows, the skin details, as well as the colors.

But even with a single-lens camera, even the Pixel 4a was able to take portrait shots, thanks to machine learning to generate portrait shots. The results are encouraging, but I did miss out a committed telephoto lens.

The Pixel 4a also impresses in reduced light. The night mode is excellent and the recorded images scream loud why the Pixel 4a is the king of night photography. The Pixel 4a also has the astrophotography manner, though I am yet to test the attribute.

The front-facing camera is adequate enough in capturing selfies at nighttime. Samsung Galaxy M51 does a better job than the Pixel 4a in video capturing.

None of this implies the Pixel 4a is a perfect smartphone. The telephone does not have wireless charging or water resistance rating. I feel these trade-offs Google has made makes no sense.

At Rs 29,999, the Pixel 4a may not be a flagship smartphone but it is the phone that a lot of people may want to buy purely because of its compact dimensions and reasonably good performance.

It's a Pixel phone in the end of the afternoon, which means you'll get a class-leading camera and also guaranteed software updates for three decades. With the Pixel 4a, Google tried to concentrate on things as basic as the battery life and that is what makes this phone far more attractive.
